Earth Day 2017: Adidas partners with Parley for the Oceans
In honor of Earth Day’s 40th Anniversary we encourage our players, coaches and fans to focus their attention on improving the quality of our environment. Soccer leagues around the globe are starting eco-friendly initiatives and understand that if we want to keep the beautiful game beautiful, we must care for the planet. For instance, the MLS in particular is making a huge effort in conjunction with Parley for the Oceans, to drive awareness to marine plastic pollution. This is all a part of the MLS Greener Goal Initiative. Tune into two MLS games this weekend and see four MLS clubs (New York City FC, Orlando City, LA Galaxy, and Seattle Sounders) wearing special edition Adidas MLS Parley club kits manufactured with Parley Ocean Plastic, recycled from marine plastic intercepted by Parley ocean clean-up operations in the Maldives. Each Parley jersey took 20 plastic bottles to make.
The kits will be worn on Sunday, April 23, when New York City FC host Orlando City SC at Yankee Stadium (1:30 pm ET, FS1 and Fox Deportes in US, MLS LIVE in Canada), and when LA Galaxy welcome reigning MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC at StubHub Center (4 pm ET, ESPN and ESPN Deportes in US, MLS LIVE in Canada).

About Adidas & Parley
This is the end of Marine Plastic Pollution. Adidas is committed to phasing out the use of virgin plastic in their products, but this is just one part of their work with Parley. As a founding member, Adidas supports Parley in Eco-Innovation, research and development, direct action, education and communication. The Adidas and Parley ocean plastic program is led by the Parley A.I.R. strategy to avoid virgin plastic, intercept plastic waste and ultimately redesign new alternatives.
